The regular seniors allocated tee time slot on the Brinsea Course is on a Monday morning (Tuesday’s following a public holiday) between 8.30 and 11.00 in the summer months and 9.00 and 11.00 in the winter. Competitions are organised each week, which are normally individual either Stableford’s or on 4 occasions Medal’s , but each month we have a team game of either a Bowmaker or a Texas Scramble.
There are also a number of Major competitions, including Seniors Championship; summer singles knockout/plate; winter foursomes and winter eclectic.
If you enjoy match play the seniors section have an Avalon league team and we also play friendly matches (28 currently) against other clubs, some home & away others once a year alternating the venue. These are played in good spirit and normally followed by a meal (and a drink or two) with good humoured banter. This is a good way to play other Somerset and Bristol golf courses and meet like-minded seniors with no green fee, only the cost of a meal and a great way to enjoy your golf and make new friends.
Two popular events in the calendar are the senior’s away day and the senior’s away night arranged annually. These include fun team competitions and lots of prizes and are enjoyed by all, whatever ones abilities.
The senior’s section also run two senior Open’s each year. A pairs BB competition and a senior Individual stableford Open.
Overall, the Senior’s section prides itself on being inclusive to all, and if you “qualify” (or soon will) to be a senior, please get in touch with either the Seniors Captain or the Club Captain who will be pleased to help you arranging games for those requiring a handicap or advising on entering competitions/matches
All of our golf played, is both friendly and fun but there is also plenty of competitive spirit as well.
